April 11th is National Pet Day and we here at IC love our furry friends! We hope you enjoy our pet pictures + stories.
She’s sunshine on a cloudy day! But, you should know that she is a BOSSY PANTS. She is 9.5 lbs of fluff that is in charge of all the dogs on the block – including a 90 lb. Rhodesian Ridgeback. The dogs about town simultaneously fear and respect her. She’s a natural born leader & miniature alpha. Also, she barks when Elton John is on the radio and really enjoys bananas.
They're pretty much glued to each other. Lucy is the 'huskier' of the two. They're not sisters. Lucy came from a breeder. We fell in love with Lucy and started fostering for the husky rescue of florida. Then we fell in love with one of the fosters and that's how we ended up with Aleu. Apparently this happens a lot. Aleu was named after the Aleutian islands in alaska. We didn't name her. Aleu is nicknamed a "pee'r" because she loves people so much that she can't handle the excitement of someone that just wants to pet her. Lucy is scared of strange men and will always let me know when its time eat.
My puppy is Charlotte, a Boston Terrier - who is sometimes a "Boston Terror".
Charlotte's favorite toys don't include any of her stuffed animals, nylabones or rope toys. Oh no - she is a true IC pup and her favorite thing in the world is paper. Toilet paper, paper towels, receipts - anything she can get her little teeth into.
KellyAnn has a white lab/hound mix - Gracie.
She is totally attached to me when I get home - only 3 feet away. When my husband and I have a conflict, she can tell immediately by our tone. When she's in the room, she starts wagging her tail on the floor because she's anxious. We have to temper our voices so that she knows we're ok. I feel like she's one of my kids - "Mommy & daddy are arguing, but we're not getting a divorce - we're fine!" Crazy!
Both of our kitties are girls and now they like to play all the time. Stella was our first cat and she is shy and skittish – she was always very calm until we brought Halloway home. Halloway always wants to play; she is curious and not afraid of much! Now that they’ve both gotten used to each other Stella is much braver and sometimes will even ambush Halloway and goad her into playing.
So one day, Todd and I came home to a SQUIRREL running around our living room!! We figured it must have came in through our fireplace. I was absolutely terrified but somehow Todd managed to chase it out the window...meanwhile, our vicious pets did not move one muscle! They were both in the living room when the squirrel got in, stayed where they were and decided not to help us scare it away. Useless!
If you're thinking about adding a furball to your family, don't forget to tell everyone with a pet birth announcement! It's a great way to share cute photos!
