come on by and see us! We'll be displaying the newest graduation
announcements and invitations and there will be plenty of other surprises in store!
How adorable are our new Save the Date Post Cards? They are focused and to the point, yet oh so stylish at the same time. We love the idea of post cards because are a wonderfully simple idea and guests don't have to open the envelope to get to the good stuff (your event of course!). They are small enough for recipients to hang on the fridge or bulletin board and make an artistic statement with bold colors and interesting typography. Photos are a must on these designs and some even incorporate a calendar to personalize with a date. Another practical advantage to sending a post card is that you'll be able to effectively send it with a lower cost budget. The stamp cost is less with a post card and you'll also save with no envelope cost. At affordable pricing, we recommend one of our traditional or unique post card designs. Award season is ending tomorrow - can you believe it? It's been a fabulous few months for the red carpet, and we've been so happy to work with Backstage Creations on many events. Our latest was the Writers Guild Awards last Sunday. We designed the invitations for the gifting suite backstage - pretty sweet, right? (pun totally intended).
So, the biggest award show of all, the Oscars, is tomorrow. We all think Anne Hathaway has it in the bag, right? What are you most excited to see - the winners or the fashion?
We're thrilled to debut the new YoKid collection by Invitation Consultants! YoKid is a D.C.-based organization that provides yoga classes to help children from all socioeconomic backgrounds foster self-awarness and self-esteem. These designs feature calming colors, and fun photos!

Put a fun spin on the traditional Wine and Cheese Party with a Bring Your Own Cheese Party! Being a lover of all things cheese, this party sounds fantastic to me. Have each guest bring a block of their favorite cheese or their yummiest cheesy dish to share with the group. The host can supply a variety of wine and other drinks to accompany the food. Other food can be included too, but in my opinion, the more cheese, the better! To up the fun and and add a little friendly competition, have everyone take a vote at the end of the night on which cheese was their favorite. The winner would win a small prize and the opportunity to host next year's cheese adventure!
How would you make this creative party idea your own?
I am such a fan of Bella Ink! Founded by designer, Melissa Danaher, Bella Ink is a line of invitations that are stylish, sweet, and have just the right amount of sass! The hand-drawn and painted elements are just gorgeous. I recently chatted with Melissa about some of our favorite topics. Get to know her better below!
What celebrity would you jump at the chance to design a party invitation for? I would love to design a party invite for Lena Dunham. She grew up in Soho, I think her taste would be really unique and super hip/fun. I love NYC Style.
What inspires your invitation & stationery designs? Current fashion trends, googling everything vintage, travels, parties, & magazines. I change up my look every season based on current trends with a Bella Ink twist.
Describe your dream party or celebration in 5 words. Good friends, nighttime island party!
Why did you join the IC Guest Designer program? I love the IC blog/website, the posts are super fresh and fun! It looks like you all truly love what you do and it shows! I'm grateful to be a part of it!
What song or band do you listen to most while designing? Depending on my mood... usually a Pandora mix of 80's music....Missing Persons, Berlin, Madonna. I love all of the 80's girl bands.
Melissa is so fun- just like all of her colorful designs! Take a peek at Bella Ink and let me know, do you have a favorite?
The creative area at IC consists of five desks and a whole lot of inspiration. It's still in the beginning stages so our bulletin boards need filling, storage areas need to be organized, and generally speaking needs a little more crafting. Reilly, Courtney, and I are starting to feel more at home in our creative corner and look forward to focusing on the little details of our space.
A white board is essential for brainstorming -- and planning where to eat!
Reilly worked super hard to create original art prints for the office. Here's the one inspired by team Zeta.
Always organizing and jotting things down on our notepads.
Today, our Fab*Mom spotlight is on one of our absolute favorite bloggers, Eden Passante of Sugar and Charm. Eden's blog is a must-read - she posts about entertaining, shares recipes, crafts and of course, amazing photos of her family. Read on to see the many reasons why Eden is a Fab*Mom!
What is your favorite part about being a mom?
Experiencing the love and bond I have with my son. It’s like no other love imaginable. Knowing that I’m his mommy and I’m responsible for creating the best childhood for him that he could ever wish for is a dream come true for me!
How has motherhood changed your outlook on life and your career?
Being a mom is the best gift in life. It makes me excited that I get to spend every day with Romeo. I experience his development and his changes daily. I’m ecstatic (although not too eager ;)) to watch him grow and see what the future holds for him. When it’s all said and done, nothing really matters but the health and happiness of my child and family. Life is short, it goes by fast. I realize more now to cherish the small moments and every second I have with him (and in life) as they will soon be memories. I like these lyrics from Steven Curtis Chapman, “I'm living the next five minutes, like these are my last five minutes, cause I know the next five minutes may be all I have.” That’s pretty much my outlook on life now.Career wise, having Romeo has provided me with more opportunities and I love blogging about being a mommy.
I actually started the blog to showcase my event design work. I started blogging about crafts that I created for parties. I then posted dessert recipes that I would experiment with. From that point on, it just grew organically. It’s brought the most amazing opportunities our way and has opened many doors. It also helps keep me creative and extra busy, which I like. I honestly don’t know what I would do without it... I would blog and create things even if I only had two readers. It just helps me and right now in my life, keeps me on my toes. I’m a goal-oriented person... I always need a goal to keep myself going. Once I reach it, I make more. It’s never ending, but it’s how I work and my blog helps with that.
We love hearing about baby names – how did you choose yours?
We wanted an Italian name in honor of Zan’s father. Romeo was a name I’ve always loved for a boy. I wanted something strong and classic for my first son. A name that would stand out and that’s not very popular. Romeo just felt right. We gave him my father’s middle name of Sumner, which is a family name passed down from General Sumner. We thought it all flowed well with our last name, Passante.
How do you find balance between working, blogging and caring for your family?
I’m fortunate I get to be a work-from-home mom. I feel like I get the best of both worlds, but it’s definitely challenging to find that balance sometimes. I work for three different blogs, including my own, so it’s always a little hectic in my house. I try to get projects done during naps or while Romeo plays with his toys and then I do most of my computer work after I put him down for the night. He has an early bedtime, which helps keep balance in my life! I also always make sure Romeo and I get out of the house everyday. We meet with friends, go to the mall or head to the park. This helps my sanity big time! On weekends when we have Zan to ourselves, we spend time as a family. We go to the beach, park and out to eat. We pretty much transport Romeo wherever we want to go. This helps us stay balanced too because we’re able to do some of the normal things we did before that little monkey arrived :)
Who is your favorite celebrity mom?
I have a lot, but I’ll name just a few. I like Tori Spelling because I think she’s hilarious, creative and runs a million businesses! I also love that she has a crazy, hectic life and has given birth four times! Miranda Kerr is also a favorite celebrity mom because she’s probably the most well put together “mum” out there. I adore her fashion sense and how she dresses her little boy Flynn... and she’s gorgeous! Oh and I love reading other mommy blogs and the blog The Glow, which features working, entrepreneur moms!
Any words of advice for other Fab*Moms out there?
Yes! Take time for yourself... this is my biggest piece of advice. It will not only benefit you, but also your entire family. Take a half day and get a massage, see a movie, grab coffee with a friend or go shopping alone. It’s amazing what just an hour away can do for you. I have a wonderful husband who supports this 100% and is always there for me when I need a little break. If you don’t have someone close to watch your little one, I think it’s worth paying a trusted babysitter to have a few hours to yourself. It’s very important to me :)
