Time for another glimpse behind the scenes of our blog team... Today, we're chatting with Antoinette, Invitation Consultants' Lead Graphic Designer.
Q: Where do you find inspiration? I’m with Courtney. Pinterest is an inspiration staple for me. Besides blogs and magazines, I also look to other companies and their printed materials. While I do peruse fellow invitation makers and stationers, you will more likely find me perusing restaurant menus, obsessing over creative shopping bags, analyzing business cards, poking around catalogs, stalking designer résumé styles, and more. Seeing what others create inspires me to a different level and makes me want to think outside the box even more. I’m also inspired heavily by my surroundings. The way a place makes me feel is especially important. When we design for holiday, I’m constantly craving a cozy feeling. If we design for summer, take me to the beach. I like how the seasons allow for different inspirations throughout the year.
Q: What is your favorite piece of clothing that you own? I suppose this is more of an accessory and not so much clothing, but I’m absolutely a statement necklace/bangles kind of a girl. While it gets a little annoying to wear them at work, you can constantly find me wearing huge, colorful bangles all the time. Also, if one necklace could make an outfit, I’ll wear that. I also have this stingray printed clutch that I bought in New York that I’m so happy I splurged on. It really is an artistic piece and coordinates with so many outfits. I also bought it with one of my best friends so whenever I wear it, I think of her. It truly is the little things in life…
Q: What colors are you crushing on right now? This is a trick question for me because I’m constantly crushing on every color. I’m always a sucker classic combos: black & white, bright red & fuchsia, neon hues, and jewel tones. I also like unexpected ones that people don’t necessarily see together, but most certainly just “go.”
Q: How would you describe your style? My style is like a mood ring. Sometimes I sport yoga pants with an off-the-shoulder top while other days I’m wearing leather skinnies with huge wedge heels. I am always on the lookout for a statement piece, whatever that may be, and do enjoy a stylish risk. From a solid black outfit to something with a little more pizzazz, I couldn’t imagine a closet that was just one style. I like to keep things bold, up with the trends, and most certainly fun. I also don’t think you should ever feel that you need to scale back. Go big or go home! =)
Q: What is your favorite part of your day? My most favorite part of the day is my after-work walk along the water. It is a stress reliever and always so beautiful at sunset.
Q: What are some of the songs in your “most played” list on your iPhone? I’m a total dance music lover. I know some people don’t consider electronic music real music (what do they know?), but I love to jam out to it. Any song on XM’s BPM station gets me motivated. In other music news, I love ‘Looking Hot’ & ‘Push and Shove’ by No Doubt, ‘Demons’ and ‘Radioactive’ by Imagine Dragons, ‘Sailingsong’ by A Fine Frenzy, and Dave Matthews Band’s ‘Broken Things,’ ‘If Only,’ and ‘Drunken Soldier.’ I like too many songs. I’ll stop now.
Q: What are your must-read blogs or sites? While Pinterest has started to trump the daily checking of my Google Reader, The Everygirl, Kendi Everyday, and Camille Styles are pretty much go-to favorites of mine. The Coveteur and the Posessionista (during Bachelor/Bachelorette season) are other fun reads, as well as eMags like Sweet Paul and Rue. I also read Entertainment news and my Capricorn horoscope every day.
Q: Where would we find you on the weekend? Spontaneity is key. You’ll find me road tripping or jet-setting. I’m trying to get all the travel I can in right now so I’m definitely on the go. If not, I’m at the farmer’s market, walking around my town, grabbing yummy delights & drinks, shopping, or simply relaxing to a good movie.
