Every year, my family gathers for Rosh Hoshanah dinner and this year was no exception. Rosh Hoshanah is both a solemn, yet still hopeful occasion, and on this day you eat a festive holiday meal to commemorate the new year. There are many symbolic foods such as apples, pumpkins, dates, pomegranates, and beets, which are typically eaten in hopes of having a sweet year ahead. My family chose to keep things simple this year in terms of our menu, but we enjoyed it nonetheless and our bellies were certainly full! We set the table with my grandmother's pretty gold flatware and let the feasting begin.
