A couple of year's ago Brittany, one of our amazing graphic designers, shared a link to Smart, Pretty & Awkward with me. Britt told me that Molly posts amazing little tid bits of information and advice that could just make your day or make you think. I could not agree more, and I've read SP&A daily ever since! I was thrilled when Molly said she would share her party tips with us. Here are her tips for both party hosts and party-goers:
How to be Smarter, Prettier and (less) Awkward when you are a party guest...
How to be Smarter: Never show up at a party, no matter how informal, empty-handed. Bring a house plant, a bottle of wine (or a six-pack, depending on your crew), or even just a birthday card--anything so you don't walk into someone's home with empty arms.
How to be Prettier: Sometimes other people's homes have different shoe rules than your own, and you might be asked to remove your shoes. Plan ahead feet-wise and either have a great pedicure or a pair of socks without holes on.
How to be (less) Awkward: No matter what goes on during the middle of the party, the beginning and end of a party are always the same when you are a guest. When you first arrive, find the host and thank them for inviting you. And then when you are getting ready to leave, find the host again and tell them what a nice time you had.
How to be Smarter, Prettier and (less) Awkward when you are the party host...
How to be Smarter: Good hosts ask their guests about any special food or drink needs ahead of time, and do their very best to accommodate them. A good host makes everyone feel welcome, and having a dish or two everyone can eat is a way to make all guests feel welcome.
How to be Prettier: This is the one party you are attending where you know you will not be leaving your house, so this is your chance to wear your highest, slightly uncomfortable heels. You will not be doing too much walking, and if two hours into the party they are bothering you, it's easy to slip into your bedroom and change footwear.
How to be (less) Awkward: Good hosts welcome each and every guest with a smile, even unexpected plus 1's.
A big thank you to Molly for contributing her useful tips to the blog today! It was the perfect way to kick off the weekend! Let us know: will you be hosting or attending any parties this weekend?
