It's SPRING!! Who's excited?! I am! I am the first to don flip flops when the temperatures rise, which in Tampa Bay is just shy of year round. The best part of springtime is all of the celebrations. Some may prefer the winter holidays for sophisticated cocktail soirees and canoodling by fireplaces, but I want to be outside in the sunshine. I've started collecting inspiration for three of the most popular springtime events. Let me know in a comment below how you will be celebrating the warmer season!
-FIESTA- Cinco de Mayo and Fiesta invitations are so fun + colorful! This chevron striped pinata is perfect for a family friendly party. Look the part with a colorful dress and Missoni (swoon) hat. These picks are from net-a-porter, but they make for great jumping off points for more affordable finds. These tacos were found on Smell Like Home, and they make me wish I could smell the images on the screen.
Having trouble picking a theme for your next birthday party - or any party, for that matter? Might I suggest doing it up country-style!? I think country-western would be a great theme for any party, but kids sure would enjoy saddling up for this shindig!
Having a country-style party means it's ok to play outside, kick up some dust and get barbeque sauce on your shirt. How could it get better?
Speaking of country flair, these boots are awesome! I found them on Zappos (of course), and they'll be just right for your little cowboy or cowgirl.
My favorite part of any celebration is the food - but I can almost taste the chili shown above! I found the recipe on Recipe Diaries and it's actually quite healthy! Definitely something I'll be trying out at home... And what goes better with chili than cornbread? The picture above is from Love and Butter and is for a spicy cheddar-jalepeno variety.
Grab your boots and let's celebrate - country style!
The first sonogram appointment is a big one for any parents-to-be. It's when you go from just knowing that you're having a baby to actually seeing it in front of you - and it becomes real! That is your little one, and I couldn't imaging not falling in love instantaneously. That first picture is often kept in wallets and purses to have at the ready to show to friends, family and anyone that's interested really! Why not use a card to share that joy by sending out a pregnancy announcement or baby shower invite with your baby's first photo on it. Give your family and friends their own copy to hang until the baby arrives and they can get a real picture.
You can use this idea of 'love at first sight' to theme your baby shower around too. Let hearts be the main decor and play games with a love theme too. Like creating a quiz that asks questions about the almost mommy and the things she loves to see who knows her the best! Like the one shown that is simply titled, "we heart emily". Decorating heart cookies is a great idea too. If you're feeling really ambitious, you can follow the directions to make these bun in the oven cookies that are just too cute!
Your first sonogram is a huge milestone in a pregnancy and there's nothing wrong with sharing that excitement and love with anyone and everyone you can! They won't be able to help but fall in love at first sight right along with you!
Before I begin, I must apologize. We highlighted gifts and party ideas for Capricorns, and then missed Aquarius and Pisces; however, we are BACK with another post devoted to the Aries folk out there! Happy Birthday to all those born between March 21st through April 19th! If you're stumped on a birthday gift for someone, try reading all about their astrological sign and see what types of gifts you can come up with! Another way to decide on the type of party you'd like to throw is to piece together the personality traits of your party recipient and see what they'd most enjoy based on what their sign says about them. It might be a far stretch, but it certainly can be a fun one!
Also, today only (3/24/11) is BIRTHDAY THURSDAY! Visit www.InvitationConsultants.com to receive 10% off your birthday invitation order of $150 or more.
Your Zodiac-Inspired Gift:
Some buzz words that come to mind with the sign of Aries are: Enthusiastic, Thrill-seeker, & Leader. Aries love to stand out in a crowd, are adventurous and outgoing, and most likely want something unique gifted to them. Some fabulous gift ideas for Aries would be:
A ban.do heart. Ban.do has highlighted 5 things that we HAFTA have and we think an Aries would be all over these sparkly gems. You'll definitely dazzle a crowd.
A Nike + iPod Sport Kit. One of the hottest gadgets out there, an Aries would most certainly enjoy this techy delight that'll also keep them fit.
'Just Add' Spices + Mixes. Aries are entertainers and love experimenting, so a foodie gift like these spices and mixes would be perfect. They allow for lots of creativity in the kitchen and are perfect for parties.
Your Zodiac-Inspired Party:
What better a party to throw for an Aries than a fiesta. Because of their thrill-seeking nature, learning how to salsa dance or throwing a travel-inspired soiree is right up their alley. Invite guests with style with these new mexican fiesta invitations: red, black and white designed 'Salsa' or chevron-inspired and colorful 'Party Piñata.'
I will end with Jonathan's Adler's Happy Chic Horoscope for Aries:
"Use your impulsive tendencies to mix and match your pillowscaping with wild abandon."
We couldn't agree more! Happy Birthday Aries and enjoy yourself this year!
Here at IC we do fun things, such as having fun teambuilders and parties; we do important things, such as creating new exciting products and servicing our amazing customers; and sometimes we just want to do good things, such as supporting our favorite charities or partnering with good causes. This is what this post is about.
Our VP, Olivier, is organizing a grandiose event to help autism care in our community. The fundraiser is put on by Olivier’s Rotary club and is a cycling event: Cycling Out Autism and will take place in Tampa on March 26th. Close to 70 riders have signed up already. And the goal is to raise $50,000. The proceeds will directly benefit families with autistic children. Of course they’re on twitter and facebook as well. Autism is a widespread illness with 1 in 150 children being diagnosed with this illness - outpacing cancer, diabetes and aids combined. And there is no cure. It costs our nation over 35 billion dollars every year and receives less than 5% - yes 5% - of the research funding of many less prevalent childhood diseases, for example Leukemia, and muscular dystrophy.
IC is proud to have donated significant time of some of our designers, printing of posters and flyers, and a monetary contribution. Sometimes we like to do good things and we’re not afraid to say so.
Signs of spring are starting to pop up, which serves as an excellent reminder to send out your Easter invitations and start planning your brunch! Personally, I love any excuse to brunch, but the pastel colors of spring mixed with some egg dying, cookie decorating and bunnies - this makes for one adorable get together. Get the kids involved with some Easter crafts that you can later use as decorations. Tired of dying eggs the same way every year? Allrecipes.com has a bunch of different ways to decorate eggs that go well beyond food coloring. Martha Stewart also has tons of ideas for Easter entertaining like the egg bunnies or eggshell flower arrangements. This idea for teacup placecards are a fun craft that they could start on now by planting real grass in a teacup and by easter, you'll have the base for an Easter scene of daffodils and chocolate eggs.
Don't celebrate Easter? Host a spring brunch! The end of winter is enough to celebrate on it's own. No matter what you celebrate, channel all those lovely, soft colors of spring colors and enjoy the excuse to have brunch! And if all those ideas weren't quite cute enough for you, you could always just invite this guy...
As with any holiday, we always celebrate with gusto! We're sporting green clothing and we knoshed on corned beef sandwiches for lunch (thank you Allison)! Reilly made her famous Irish Soda Bread and we've got cupcakes topped with green frosting. All-in-all, I'd say we're having a day that would make anyone green with envy! HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY FOLKS! Sláinte!!!
Have you read about Allison, Invitation Consultants' President? In Antoinette's Fab*Mom post, Allison provides sweet notes about her kids, her experience adopting a baby and what is like to be a working mom. If you know (or are) a Fab*Mom, let us know!
In case you missed it, Antoinette recently covered 2011 Top Baby Names! I love this post, especially the portion of name picks from our team at IC.
On Labor Day last year, Kaity posted about important things for a mom's "labor day". I love the play on words, and Kaity's picks for new moms are even better!
We can't leave out the dads! This Diapers for Dad post is all about Daddy Baby Showers, an emerging trend (and a cute one, at that!).

We're throwing our favorite Warbler a birthday party! Ok, not really, but we can dream! Today's post is the first in our NEW series called "A Birthday For:_______"
The blog team is so excited to imagine birthday parties for some of our favorite fictional characters. We started with Blaine "Warbler" (as Rachel Berry called him one tipsy evening), who might be better known to his Dalton Academy classmates as Blaine Anderson.
What I would wear...
You can't go wrong with red and blue for Blaine! Dalton's school colors are also a great fashion combination. This red velvet dress from Lulu's reminds me of stage curtains. Perfect for a performer's party!
What we would eat...
As soon as I saw these potato music notes, I knew it would be perfect for a Blaine's party! Potatoes are a classic side dish - but these are made with a twist. What better way to describe a Warbler performance?
What I would buy him...
I'd hit up the Gap and buy him all kinds of clothes and accessories - that don't fit. Maybe his manager crush will be around when he goes to make some returns...
How we would invite guests...
Blaine's party would absolutely be a V.I.P. affair - so this V.I.P. Pass invitation is the only way to go!
So, that's our first "A Birthday For:_______" post. Who do you want to see next? We've got a few ideas up our sleeves, but would love to hear from our readers! Leave a comment, or tweet us @fabulousinvites!
