Mardi Gras is just one (short!) month away and I am already feeling the spirit! While I haven't been to New Orleans yet, this annual celebration would be the perfect time to visit. The food, drink and festivities make the perfect party inspiration. So just because you're not really in the Big Easy, doesn't mean you can't party like 'Nawlins residents!
If you're having a Mardi Gras party, you can't ignore some Cajun staples! Dirty rice, jambalaya and beignets are just a few of the must-haves. Others include some of the delicious dishes featured above. I found a yummy recipe for shrimp po'boys on One Lovely Life that I can't wait to try out! I am also dying to try some honest-to-goodness Cajun etouffee! The Curvy Carrot has a great recipe for a chili cheese variety! Another must-serve for Mardi Gras is the classic Hurricane cocktail. Delish!
Purple, gold and green. When you're getting dressed for a Fat Tuesday-themed event, just make sure you're wearing one of these colors! I love this dress from Lulus.com. It's perfect for the occasion, and would be complimented well by some colorful beads! To add a touch of gold to any outfit, jewelry is always best. I love this crown pendant, which is actually a watch as well!
You can't have a true Mardi Gras bash all by your lonesome. Invite over your girlfriends - or family - or the whole block to celebrate! My favorite invitation right now is the Mardi Gras Recipe by our own Red Leaf Papers. Of course we have so many more to choose from - and you can check out all our Mardi Gras invitations here!
Laissez les bons temps rouler!
