The Fab*Blog team is so excited to welcome some of our amazing Customer Consultants to the Blog! Throughout the next few weeks, our Consultants will be sharing party themes with you inspired by the customers they speak with and assist on a daily basis! This post is from Ashley, who loves music more than anyone and has the guts to weather the sun, rain and crowds to enjoy some of the country's best music fests! Check out Ashley's music festival advice & ideas for throwing your own music festival party:
Summertime… it means sunshine, picnics, sandals and relaxing poolside. But to me, it also means music festivals! Music festivals encompass all that I believe to be heaven on Earth; live music, friends and being outdoors. They are a chance to get out there and see what all those hipsters are wearing/doing, and even discover some amazing new music. Yes, they mean a weekend of no showering (unless you want to stand in line for hours upon hours for a cold shower), port-a-potties and Pabst Blue Ribbon. But if you have yet to attend a summer music festival, and you can look past those things for a few days, then you need to get to one immediately. The summer is half over, but there are still a couple festivals left lingering in the near future. In order to make the most of your festival, I’ve put together a list of things that I find to be absolute necessities while festivaling (is that a word? now it is.)
Festival Hat – everyone needs a “festival hat” when attending these. It’s your own personal companion to take along with you to each one, and oh if that hat could talk ;-) Any hat will do, as long as you love rocking it. I love this Straw Fedora from Free People.
Wrist Watch – a watch or clock of some sort is a must, because usually you need to be on a strict schedule in order to fit all your favorite bands in. Many times, there are conflicts (my one gripe about larger scale festivals). But what can you do, they do that so not all 45,000 people attend the same show. Before the fun begins, figure out your own schedule in order to try and see all of the bands that you like.
Sunglasses – this one may seem obvious, but I had to mention it because sunglasses are probably thee biggest necessity out of everything. You won’t want to leave tent without them. But one suggestion: don’t bring your $300 Fendi’s, you won’t want the guy next to you with the flailing arms knocking them off your head and then proceeding to break dance on top of them. Grab a $5 pair from Forever 21 and give yourself some peace of mind!
Lug-gage – what can you keep all of your stuff in while jamming out? Most events don’t allow re-entry into the campsite once you reach the festival grounds. That’s why it’s necessary to bring in a few certain possessions. You can bring a purse (annoying) or a backpack (sweaty, unless you have one of those $200 aerated ones). But what I recommend is the wonderful, totally making a come-back Fanny Pack. I love mine from American Apparel, it is just big enough to contain my phone, camera, cash & ID, festival schedule and chapstick. And it is totally hands free, which I am ALL about!
Miscellaneous – Here are a few more things I have learned the hard way never to attend a festival without: Car cell phone charger, dry shampoo, koozie, canopy or screen house for shade at the campsite, Emergen-C and Pirate's Booty.
We are all about celebrating, and music festivals are the perfect way to celebrate the summer. But if you can’t make it to one anytime soon, then why not throw your own Music Festival Party?
Do any other festival goers want to add their personal must-haves to the list?
