Today's post was actually inspired by one of our fabulous customers (as well as one of my favorite tv shows)! A customer placed an order for our Olive Shaker invitation and wrote that the party would be in the style of Mad Men and encouraged guests to dress in late 50's/early 60's attire. I just can't get over what a great idea this is!
Even if you don't love Mad Men (though you should - it's amazing!), you've got to appreciate the era represented by the show. The costume and set designers put in endless hours to get the styling just right for each episode, but you don't have to work quite as hard to throw your next themed party!
Get all dolled up in this retro number from Mod Cloth. The dress is subtly sexy - Joan Holloway would approve. Don't forget your accessories! Etsy is a great go-to for vintage jewelry and KissKissVintage is a fabulous seller to start with. I love her vintage rhinestone brooch.
Serve your guests an Old Fashioned, the drink many consider to be the first cocktail, and one of Don Draper's favorites. For hors d'oeuvres - or even dinner - try fondue! It was the way to entertain in the 50's and 60's and is perfect for your vintage-style event.
So get out your Super 8 video camera and get ready to capture some memories! Your Mad Men party is sure to be a hit! This theme is a great excuse for a cocktail party - or perhaps even a viewing party! The series comes back for season 4 on July 25th. I'll be watching, will you?
