It's been a little while since our last Fab*Bride, but I'll be the first to say that we are back with some GLAM! Today's Fab*Bride was nominated by one of our favorite photographers Lindsey Thorne (remember Natasha's vintage NY wedding?) We were bubbling with excitement once we saw her photos - Kristin and her now-husband Jeffrey were photographed in many signature New York scenes and had a gorgeous reception with panoramic views of the city skyline. You may have seen her featured on other blogs, but we could not hold back from posting this gorgeous gal. What did Lindsey have to say about Kristin?
"When I first walked into the hotel room where Kristin was getting ready, I drew my breath. Gorgeous red hair, black eye liner and bright red lipstick paired with a bird caged veil and a silver dress... I freaked out! She was stunning, she was listening to music from the 40's and 50's and spritzing herself with Chanel No. 5. She was elegant and dazzling, as was the wedding. It couldn't have been a better day."
"Kristin and Jeffrey met and fell in love in New York yet with Kristin being from Reykjavik, Iceland and Jeffrey’s whole family being from Johannesburg, South Africa (though he grew up in Los Angeles) almost all of their guests were flying in from all around the world to witness and celebrate their wedding. As Jeffrey is a singer/songwriter and Kristin is a former model, they wanted to make their wedding elegant and glamorous yet fun and relaxed, and were inspired by the look and feel of the 1940s. They adored the Water’s Edge as we were able to turn the restaurant space into the perfect intimate celebration for their 65 guests. With floor to ceiling windows looking out onto the New York City skyline, guests were able to take in the view of the city that Kristin and Jeffrey love. Dozens of candles, gemstones and white roses were placed upon mirrored tablets to complement the twinkling lights of the skyline and evoke the same enchantment indoors as seen outdoors. Kristin really wanted her look to be unique and knew that she had found her perfect wedding gown when she discovered her silver David Meister gown. Paired with black and silver heels, a white stole and black birdcage veil, her look was complete. During the evening, Kristin and Jeffrey shared some of their favorite things with their guests. Throughout the night, guests enjoyed Icelandic Reyka vodka and wine from Argentina, where they got engaged, while at the end of the night, chocolates from Iceland and South Africa were given out as favors."
Without further ado, your Fab*Bride Kristin!
For your city-chic nuptials, what was the driving inspiration or concept behind your wedding? I absolutely adore old Hollywood, so Jeff and I wanted to do an art deco/ 40's style wedding complete with the swing band and cocktails from the same era.
Your wedding dress is so GLAMOROUS – tell us about your search for the perfect piece. How did you go about accessorizing and styling to finalize your look? I knew i did not want to wear a traditional wedding gown. That was not my fantasy. Believe it or not but I saw the dress in a Rose McOwen commercial riding in the back seat of a yellow cab. Three months later, I was hoping they would still have it in Bergdorf Goodman and they did - ON SALE. I paid half price for my dream dress. The shoes that I found from Valentino are the perfect gunmetal color with rose detailing and peekaboo toe. I had no guilt at all for the hefty price tag because I got such a deal on the dress. To finish the look, I had a custom head piece made with black feathers and rhinestone broche attached to a bird cage veil for the old the 40's glamour look. We had our wedding in February so I could not resist a vintage arctic fox fur stole that I found on eBay.
If you could label one song as the theme to your wedding, what would it be? At Last by Etta James. This was actually the song that I walked down the isle to.
If Hollywood made a movie about your life as a bride-to-be to now-bride, which starlet would you want to play you in the lead role? This is a tough one... Lauren Bacall. I think she is fierce! But if it is today's starlet, I like Scarlett Johansson.
Describe a Fab*Bride (you!) in three words. Nontraditional, modern, easygoing.
And just because we love little surveys:
Something borrowed? My jewelry
Something blue? A sapphire ring
Something old? A heirloom piece
Something new? Shoes
Something beautiful? Smile
Something yummy? The perfect husband
Something touching? My mom's speech
Something funny? The perfect husband
