When I was in the 3rd grade, I watched Grease every single night. I would fall asleep half way through 'Beauty School Dropout' and wake up thinking about Danny Zuko. I was a little crazy, but 'Grease is the word' and I was 'hopelessly devoted' to this classic 50's themed flick. Last night, Olivia Newton-John was on Glee and I was just praying the group would break out into 'We Go Together' but no such luck. It made me want to throw a 50's themed party, so I present to you this be-boppin bevy of inspiration:
From left to right:
Danny Zuko and Sandra Dee doing the hand jive at Rydell High's dance: I love Sandy's flowy white-pink dress and clunky heals, but I loved Cha Cha DiGregorio's get-up even more. You can see her in the background with her hands on her hips pulling off the total Cha Cha attitude. I know she was the bad girl, but I thought she was so cool.
Tom Thumb Mini-Milkshakes from Martha Stewart: No 50's themed party or sock hop could possibly be complete without strawberry milkshakes! This particular shade of pink reminds me of Pinky's strawberry colored hair after her beauty school mishap.
