I was a bride again and this time I did everything the way I wanted to. No stress about "doing the right thing." Everything was "right." We decided on an 80's style theme because we are fun people and did not want anything serious.
The ceremony: Was amazing because we did our own vows, our friend officiated the ceremony (he is an investment banker!) and it was small and in our backyard under a tree. No flowers, no fluff, just our kids walking us down the aisle and smiling faces!
The guest list: super small. 35 people, including family and our best friends. Yes the guests were required to come in 80's clothing!
The colors: fuchsia and gray
The decor: Table linens from Napa Valley's La Tavola, fuchsia and grey M&M's, cupcake toppers that look like lollipops, balloons, cheezy paper 80's decor saying Arcade and Rad, a poster just printed at a print shop that Brittany designed from one of our 80's invitations, and lots of candles.
The Music: All 80's - rock, rap, new wave. We danced for 4 1/2 hours straight, it was awesome how we knew all the words to all the songs even though we had not heard them in years!
The gifts: We asked for none, and instead asked guests if they wanted to donate to our favorite charity (totally opotional).
The food: For the ceremony we had cupcakes and champagne after. For the party we had hors d'oeuvres, a pasta chef, more pastries and a sundae bar.
The invitation: Botanical Mod. We had it done in fuchsia and gray.
I loved being a bride again, this time 10 years later and with our kids their to celebrate with us was the best part!
