I have never considered myself a girly-girl. I would rather wear flip flops than heels, and I will take Chapstick over lip stick any day. But, I am a sucker for cocktail parties. I’ll put my comfort aside to throw on a sparkly dress and get dolled up for a swanky party. That’s why I love holiday cocktail parties. This time of year, it seems like stores are specializing in anything that sparkles, shimmers or twinkles! Finding the perfect cocktail dress can be a challenge, but I’ve found a few stylish (yet affordable) options for your holiday attire.
- “Sparkle Cross Front Dress” This dress is from Wet Seal and is only $24.50. The dress skirt comes in blue (or red) and is iridescent – perfect for a Hanukkah, or Christmas, party.
- "Sequin-Embellished Shoulder Dress” This sexy number is from Forever 21 and is $24.80. Asymmetrical dresses are super stylish, and the embellishment at the neck means you won’t have to spring for accessories!
- “Peacock Feather Dress” This dress is from the Twelve by Twelve line featured at Forever 21 for $32.00. Available in black, or (as pictured) in royal blue, this dress makes quite a statement with the peacock feather accent on the shoulder.
- “Racerback Tank Dress” This is from Wet Seal and can be purchased for $25.50. To me, this dress screams New Year’s! Throw on a pair of opaque black tights (and perhaps a peacoat, depending on the weather) and you’ll be outshining the Times Square ball drop all night.
Now that you’ve found gorgeous dresses – throw a party! You can never have too many cocktail dresses, so make sure you have somewhere to wear them all this holiday season. Consider using some of our fabulous invites to spread the news about your occasion.
- “Holiday Happy Hour” Let everyone know that your place is the place to be for happy hour this holiday season! This invitation features a Happy Hour marquee sign, complete with a martini glass and Christmas ornament.
- “Retro Sips” Mindy Weiss, one of the world’s most sought-after wedding and event planners, designed this holiday invitation. It is a cheerful and stylish way to announce your upcoming event to your guests.
- “Holiday Mod Invite” This ecru-colored invitation has an art-deco feel and shows a stylish woman enjoying her holiday cocktail, complete with holly as a garnish!
- “Night Fall” For more modern tastes, this invitation features stylish white bursts on a black stripe – as well as martini glass, on a wintery blue backdrop.

Love the one strap dresses.
