Quentin, from Destination Weddings joins us today for his third guest post. Catch up on Quentin's story with his first post, and his second post.
Last time I told you about how my fiancé and I decided to compromise and choose a more affordable location for our wedding. By accommodating our guests we were told more of them would show up, so as long as we found a spot that we liked then everybody wins.
Now affordability was key, and we were trying to keep it as far under $1,000 for guests as possible for a long weekend somewhere in the Caribbean. Aside from affordable, here was what we were looking for:
1. Safe destination. I wanted a destination that we could freely go off-resort and not be concerned with getting into trouble (with the exception of some wedding guests that have trouble follow them anywhere!)
2. Beach! It had to have an incredible beach – we are beach bums through and through.
3. Wedding on the beach, but not on the beach. Sound impossible? It’s not – just need a gazebo on the sand. That way nervous and klutzy wedding party people don’t take a fall trying to gracefully make it across the sand during the ceremony.
4. All-inclusive. All food and drinks included…enough said! Perfect for the party crowd that is our friends and family.
After a short back and forth with our specialist on options we finally settled on Nassau Bahamas, and more specifically the Breezes Resort.
Don’t get me wrong, there are a ton of other destinations and resorts that would have worked as well, this one just happened to work best for us. It had all the options we wanted, plus “free” weddings. The free is in quotes because once my wife got done with it the package was no longer free (but before the upgrades it started as free!)
Next post I’ll skip forward to the trip down, and tell you about some of the interesting events that took place (a guest afraid to fly that passed out, a guest voted off the island, and more…)
