I briefly met Sarah Mitchell, Co-Owner, and Trisha Logan, Art Director, of Inviting Company at this year's National Stationery Show and I knew instantly that they were super sweet and creative! How can they not be- their product is adorable! I know I'm not the only one who thinks so because their colorful line of party invitations has become a real favorite among our huge selection of party invitations. I think it's because they are stylish and affordable and their cute designs are cause enough for celebration. When I moved, I announced my new home with their Chandelier invitation and for my upcoming joint birthday party with my BFF, I'm using their Spooky Gathering invitation (it's on Halloween). What can I say, I guess I'm a fan? So I was psyched when Trisha said her and Sarah would chat about some of their designs over cocktails, and share their insight with Fab*Blog! Check out their interview below & enjoy!
{F*B} If you had to describe Inviting Company designs in three words, what would they be?
{IC} Whimsical, Bold and Fun
{F*B} What is your favorite party theme to design for?
{Sarah} Cocktail parties, anything with drinks on it
{Trisha} Patterns and general borders because they are so versatile. My background is in textiles, so this is what I love to do.
{F*B} The holidays are coming up. What do you think the top holiday invitation and card trends will be?
{IC} It is hard to say this year, in the past our non traditional holiday colors and designs have done great. However, this year we experienced some hesitation with those looks as retailers were playing it safe and wanting more traditional holiday colors. So we revised some of our holiday line to make everyone happy! However, some of our best selling photocards are the more unique color combinations.
{F*B Note} You can check out Inviting Company holiday designs here.
{F*B} You guys have teamed up with industry leaders like wedding and event planner Mindy Weiss. What is like working with someone so renowned?
{IC} Fabulous! She has been absolutely wonderful to work with and is a great fit for our line. She is super fun and has very creative ideas.
{F*B} Your latest holiday cocktail napkins are so cute and sassy! Where do all the cute quips come from?
{IC} They usually come from happy hour conversations with friends and on our work trips!
{Fab*Blog Note} Inviting Company has also teamed up with designer Naughty Betty on some of the hilarious napkins being offered.
{F*B} What is the Inviting Company design team like in general? Where
do you guys gather inspiration and how do you execute such awesome work?
{IC} Thanks so much for the compliment! Our creative team consists
of 6 designers and 3 production designers. We have a unique situation
because we all work from home and several of us are in different
states, different time zones, etc. We do all of our communicating
through email and phone calls. However, Sarah and I do live in the same
town and have meetings often to go over designs, etc. We all get
together once a year for a designers retreat. Each of our designers
has a different strength: watercolor, bold graphics, patterns, hand
drawn illustrations, etc.
Thank you to Sarah & Trisha for your time!
Sarah Mitchell is co-owner of Inviting Company with Pam Hatcher. Trisha Logan is the Art Director of Inviting Company.
