Hello gumshoes!
This post reaches (not too far) back to around 1991. A widely popular computer game turned TV game show, the point was to ask yourself Where in the World is this woman as she had her V.I.L.E. henchman (perhaps Vic the Slick, Robocrook, Double Trouble, Eartha Brute, Top Grunge, or Kneemoi had something to do with it) carry out such tasks as stealing famous landmarks. The game show contestants had to use their geographical knowledge to follow the criminal from place to place all around the world. The person with the most points at the end of the show had the chance to catch the villainess.
Find out how you can throw a fabulous detective party!
1. The game is already set up for you! Choose one Carmen Sandiego, a group of henchman, and a pool of gumshoes to figure out whodunit? The party thrower must create clues and set up different scenarios for the guests to act out and decipher.
2. Have everyone dress up as their favorite villain or detective! Carmen is most fashionable with her red trench and knee high black boots! If you want to go a little more fun or quirky, Inspector Gadget, the Scooby-Doo gang, or Al Capone are always costume favorites.
3. What's a party without favors? Create buttons with map imagery (as shown above) for your guests to wear. The DIY trend is always in! Make passport covers for your guests to take home or journals created by you or your guests for them to use on their travels while crimestopping. Briefcases filled with detection goodies would also be a creative way to group lots of items in one package.
4. Your tablescape can be filled with caution tape, magnifying glasses, cameras, and other items to allow your guests to go incognito. Serve foods from the around the world, perhaps a global-fusion cuisine, to really accentuate the travel theme.
5. Don't forget acapella music insired by the show's own Rockapella. The musical group sang clues for the contestants and widely popular theme song!
