It's no secret that I'm kind of a girly-girl. I don't have the natural appreciation for the outdoors that I wish I had. I really like air conditioning, and if a bug even thinks about touching me I freak out. But, I was on J Crew the other day and I wandered over to the Crew Cuts section, made famous by the Obama daughters, and I saw this picture of two little boys camping. They inspired me! How fun would it be to have a backyard camp out for your little boy's (or girl's!) birthday? Here are some ideas to accompany the images above:
* The Invite:Can you believe we have an invite of a little boy outside a camo tent? It's so cute, and beyond perfect for little campers. It's die-cut too, so it's in the shape of an actual tent! The fishing stationery is cute for thank you notes.
* The S'mores: The benefit of a backyard camp out is that you have your regular kitchen to create yummy dishes in. The s'mores pictured above are made with homemade marshmallows!! I didn't even think you could make marshmallows yourself. I just figured they were one of those magical foods that just appear out of nothing- like sprinkles and spam. Of course, Jet Puff 'mallows are a crowd pleaser too, but these would be fun to try.
* The Tent: This one is so cute and colorful, and only $45.99! Is that a good deal? I'm not sure- not typically in the tent market.
* The Entertainment: If your little campers are big enough for scary stories, R.L. Stine is your man. Remember the goosebumps series? These are sure to thrill, but the little guys might lose out on sleep so beware.
* The Activity: 'Hunting' and 'exploring' the backyard, catching lightning bugs, and snacking on camp treats may be enough to keep the crowd busy, but this is a cute craft in case your looking for something to occupy their time. The little drum is made of a coffee can and is perfect for singing camp songs.

Love the idea. So much fun. My boys will love this!
