Every year Gasparilla transcends on the Tampa Bay area. Yet people from all over the country come to enjoy it! It is an excuse for grown ups to dress up as pirates, meander around a float and throw beads to children and adults of all ages. The key is: the more beads you get..the better! There is a children's parade, a day parade and a night parade. How much partying can the bay area take? If you want to know more about the history of Gasparilla, click here. The more you read about it, the more fun it sounds like! If you want to party hop, hit Tampa and then New Orleans for Mardi Gras! Double whammy!
This parade has been popular for quite some time. And now there is a new surge of popularity in pirate themed parties all around the country. It gives kids a chance to dress up on other days besides parades and Halloween. Kids are having pirate themed birthday parties...simply because they are fun and you get to talk funny. Pirate invitations are great for boys and their dress up parties.
So while adults are out dressed up as pirates and young boys as pirates too, what is a young girl to do! Tea parties are a great way to have girls dress up as their favorite princess or a replica of their hip yet well mannered mommy. So many cute places are popping up where girls can dress up for a few hours and enjoy tea and friends. What is great for kids, is Halloween is not the only time they can dress up; they can do so for birthday parties too!
Tips for having a great kid's dress up party:
1. state that dress up is recommended on the invitation or if dress up will be provided at the party location
2. don't have anyone dress up who doesn't want to; this isn't for everyone
3. check out more party blogs for ideas, such as Amazing Moms, who recommends having plenty of help the day of the event
4. don't leave anyone out, even if they do not want to dress up, not everyone wants to be the center of attention (although I do not understand that phenomenon, I can certainly respect it!)
Have a blast!
