My 10 year class reunion was several years ago and soon I will be embarking on my 20 year class reunion in a few years. I graduated in a class of 700 kids and only 150 attended my 10 year class reunion. That is pretty sad. After all, a lot goes into planning a class reunion and gathering people from all over the country. Most of the kids from my class reside in Miami or New York or Atlanta or Los Angeles.
No one wants to show up to their class reunion alone, so that is when significant others are dragged along and this is no picnic for them, because they don't get the inside jokes and the gossiping between you and your best friend about so and so in the far right corner of the room. Try to make it a fun event for them too!
After 10 years of anticipation I wanted this event to be a huge success, and although it was a beautiful location at the top of a hotel overlooking Miami Beach, there was no decor and the set up was well....lame! A large percentage of the people even ended up hanging out in the smoker's lounge or by the elevators. So here is what I recommend if you are planning a class reunion, so your former classmates aren't disappointed!
Class 1: Have the reunion in a room that is not too big or small for the event. Our event was in way too big of a room with a dance floor in the center, except there was no DJ or dancing. Choose a room that creates intimacy so that no one feels initimidated or awkward to speak with anyone else.
Class 2: Have more than one bar station set up. People always congregate around the bar especially when they are nervous and 75 people waiting for one bartender does not add up to a pleasant ratio.
Class 3: Have a sit down dinner as a opposed to a buffet so that people can enjoy conversation. People standing up and eating is sloppy. Serve them a plated dinner so that dinner and conversation are not rushed. Any type of speeches should be done during this time.
Class 4: Have people where their name tag around their neck with a senior high school picture on the tag. Hello My Name tags fall off and get stuck in people's long hair. Have guests where a name tag around their neck as well.
Class 5: Do an ice breaker no matter how large your class is. And make sure to express thankfulness for their guests attending.
Class 6: Have the event at a location that has some meaning to your class. If your school was totally into sports, have it at a sports facility. Reflect any themes in your class reunion invitations.
Class 7: Decorate the room in school colors and have blown up photos from the yearbook of sports teams, clubs, etc.
Class 8: Make sure the organizer is there. The person who organized our reunion was not even there. Have people in charge and making people feel welcomed.
Having a class reunion is a momentous occasion, so make yours one to remember and not one to complain about!

One of the coolest parts of my job here at IC is that I get to see different products everyday. With over 8,000 items on our site, I can’t fathom memorizing them all (I don’t even know what I had for breakfast this morning). Yet my quirky train of thought landed me on a random memory recently. I saw a wax seal that brought me back to AP Literature class from 12th grade. We watched the 1982 movie The Scarlet Pimpernel. For those of you "not in the know" this play was written by Baroness Emmuska Orczy following the French Revolution. In the play the Scarlet Pimpernel is a masked man who has been saving the French from executions. In the movie version he signs his letters with a wax seal adorned with a scarlet pimplernel (the flower). Check out these
This is not a post about the extremely catchy song by Chicago. Rather, It is a post simply about Inspiration. We are a highly creative and energetic group and I thought i'd take this oppurtinuty to share with everyone what it is exactly that inspires all of us "creatives" here at invitation Consultants.
What would a mapcard look like without your average map? Most likely hand drawn! I have seen many
The moment came when he (or she) popped the question. Maybe it happened just as you’d expected, or maybe it was surprise that you delightfully accepted. Whichever it was, there isn’t a better time than now to celebrate your love and future with those you love.
Congratulations to Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds on their recent nuptials outside of Vancouver. They were married at Clayquot, only accessible via plane or boat on Vancouver Island. (A gorgeous island I have been to). They are not the only couple to choose a remote location where guests can enjoy the outdoors! A relaxed setting by the water and mountains and just in general in nature is a sure way to go! Even though Vancouverites claim that they rust out, rain can't stop a wedding in such a beautiful location. Other impressive wedding spots are Big Sky, Montana, Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and Sedona, Arizona.
Apparently more people watched Saturday Night Live last Saturday night than ever before in thier history! It's true, SNL is hip and cool again. It would be so much fun to host a SNL party with a movie night theme. I would make tons of popcorn and spiced cider. There would be a live band and any other urban touch I could think of. These would be my top choice invitations: left;
Okay people, I don't really want to bore you with my excitement, but I will anyway. When I was little, on the first day of October I would cut 24 strips of construction paper, form circles with them, and create a chain with a stapler. I would then pull one off everyday until my birthday. My mom affectionately called it my birthday month. This tradition stuck until about junior year of college. Now, I count down to my b-day in a more quiet, reserved kind of way. My birthday is one week before Halloween, so people are always willing to celebrate with me because they are in such a party mood anyway. This year, to celebrate I'm going on a mini road trip to Atlanta, Georgia where I will see the play Wicked at the Fox Theater. I'm pumped.
Carslon Craft, the paper industry staple, has brought to our attention a new and unique printing process they have termed "Glazed Printing". I spoke with a few Carlson Crafts experts that were able to help me further understand the process and it's uniqueness. As a warning, we're about to get a little technical. ..but just a little.
