
There are many printing techniques used on invitations in todays world. Some older than others and some more involved than others. All of these techniques can get confusing to some people on exactly what these things look like and how they are actually printed. This begins a short series of posts that helps describe some of the more popular printing techniques used on wedding and all other invitations alike.
Thermography. If you were type this in Google (which i did) you'd end up finding a lot of what looks like a scene from Predator 1. According to Google, most of the world sees thermography as thermal imaging. this is not printing so we aren't going to talk about it.
Thermography as a printing technique is know commonly as "raised printing". The process is a bit different from normal printing in that it requires a special ink with powder mixed into it that when treated with heat (after it's been printed) it actually raises off the paper giving it a nice texture you can see and touch as shown in the example in the image. This is a really popular printing option for many wedding invitations.
