I'm off (on another tangent that is)! Sweet beautiful tangents. I think they make the world go round and they are always welcome in my world. For anyone who watches Top Design on Bravo, can I share a couple of brilliant one liners? last night, Kelly Wearstler asked one of the design contestants for a set of "Cliff Notes" with his window display! Ouch (but the design really was awful)! Then Jonathan Adler had said something so simple yet inspirational. As I grasped for my journal to document the brilliance, I remember it being something along these lines. "It's okay to make something look great first and then inject narrative quietly." May I just say Wow! Okay I digress, My point is that little tangents are often overlooked opportunities for amazing design. One of my coworkers had asked me to help her on a side project for her wedding. A little detail to let guests know how it all went down. How they met? Where the first date was? etc. Isn't this the stuff people are dying to know. I'm sure your immediate family already knows but what about the less informed that don't have context from which to relate. I bring you Katrina's paper fortune teller! It was designed to match her mocha pocket invitation font and color and I believe it is one of these narrative details of which Mr. Adler speaks of. It is small and will be just a detail on the tablescape however it will help guests emotionally relate to the bride and groom for a more memorable experience!
P.S. Jonathan Adler is getting hitched today! Congratulations to you both!
